President & Chief Structural Economic Geologist

Rogerio Monteiro is Vektore’s President and Chief Structural Geologist. He is a Structural Economic Geologist with more than 30 years of experience in the global mining industry and a recognized researcher and leader in the development of practical new tools to optimize mineral exploration and target development.

A graduate from Brazil UNISINOS in 1982, Rogerio went on to earn his M.Sc. in 1990 from UFRGS, through the study of the structure, geochemistry and metamorphism of the Zapucay Gold Mine in Uruguay. In 1996, he completed his Ph.D. program at the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada, integrating structural domains and their intrinsic patterns with geostatistics, geochemistry and metamorphic history, focusing on the Ouro Fino Gold Mine in Brazil.

Rogerio Monteiro joined Inco Ltd. in 1997 as Senior Exploration Geologist and he was appointed Chief Structural Geologist for Vale Global Exploration in 2007. He retired from this position in 2012, and founded Vektore, a company that has since been focused on advancing the Applied Structural Economic Geology field as well as developing and optimizing new tools and methods that bring significant impact to mineral exploration.

Some of his unique contributions include the development of the ML-Compass (US Patent 6701631, 2004), the MK-Method©, the V-SET Method©, the Structural Inversion Method©, TAM© and TAM-Extrapolation©, ODESA© and Fry-Patterson Deletion Method©. In various combinations, these novel methods and tools have led to substantial discoveries and target development in mining operations around the world. In 2013, Rogerio Monteiro was appointed the “Richard W. Hutchinson Visiting Industrial Professor in Mineral Deposits Studies” at the University of Western Ontario.

Technical Advisory Board - Mining Engineer and Geologist

Professor Jair Carlos Koppe, Mining Engineer and Geologist, MSc. and Dr. in Sc., is engaged in the Post Graduation Program of Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil. He has worked in research, teaching and consulting since 1980. His work experience includes the roles of mining engineer and geologist in mineral exploration for gold, and mining gold and dimension stones. His research interests include rock mechanics, unit operations of mining, mine planning, mineral exploration, mine reclamation and waste management. Professor Koppe leads the blasting engineering and the rock mechanics emphasis areas in the Mining Engineering Department at UFRGS. He has authored and co-authored more tham 250 technical papers in international journals and conferences; and supervised more than 40 M.Sc. and Ph.D. thesis.

Professor Chemale Jr. is a Geologist that graduated from Vale do Rio dos Sinos University, Brazil (1978). He earned his Masters degree in Geochemistry from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil (1982), and his Ph.D. at Naturwissenschaften from Technische Universität Clausthal, Germany (1987). He has experience in the Geosciences, focusing on Tectonics, and his main interests are in the following subjects: isotope geology, structural geology, analysis of sedimentary basin and metallogeny in South America, Southern Africa and the Antarctic.

João Luis Vieira, Software Engineer Specialist in Software Development Patterns best practices by Ceara State University (UECE), and Systems Analyst by University of Fortaleza (UNIFOR), Brazil.

Mr. Vieira has extensive experience in Software Development Consulting as an Enterprise Architect Specialist and Functional Architect. His work experience includes: Design Requirements and Architecture in Unified Modeling Language (UML); Functional Analysis and Requirements Analysis; System Design by Mobile, Desktop and WEB Solutions and Development in Multiple Platforms and Languages Systems (.NET, C++, JAVA, Delphi, Oracle and SQL Server). He has been working in the development of data components of geological structures, and as Senior Software Developer since 2001.

Consultant, Mathematical Geologist

Weiyin, a Geology graduate in mineral exploration from the China University of Mining and Technology, earned his M.Sc. degree in Geology at the University of Western Ontario in 2014. His work was dedicated to numerical modeling and its applications in the field of structural geology, where he conducted kinematic and strain analysis by integrating field mapping and computer simulation. He applied a multiscale model to simulate heterogeneous deformation and to explain the fabric development in Archean greenstone belts.

Mr. Chen brings to Vektore his experience in the field of numerical modeling, mathematical and structural geology. He is currently designing algorithms and pseudocode for Vektore’s 3D software – vKore.

Sahadia Koop – M.D., Ph.D.

Secretary Treasurer

Dr. Koop is a M.D. from Brazil and holds a Ph.D. in Medical Biophysics from the University of Western Ontario. She attended the MBA program at the Laurentian University in Ontario and is experienced in business design, implementation, team mentoring, and management in Brazil and Canada.

Dr. Koop brings to our company expertise in research and development as well as in business optimization through multidisciplinary interaction.

Natasha Koop – B.A.

User Experience Designer

An OCADU graduate, Natascha studied both Art and Design. She leads the user experience strategy for multiple projects at Vektore, including visual design, user research, UI design, and information architecture. In addition, her training by ESRI in ArcGIS and by Mira Geosciences in GoCad Mining brings to Vektore an invaluable support to current projects.

Natascha is designing an innovative graphic user interface that will host Vektore’s 3D software – vKore.

Consultant, Geophysics Data Log Analyst

Doug is a Computer Graphics Designer with an Industrial Chemistry degree by the S. Judas Tadeu College in S. Paulo, Brazil. His artistic education diploma from the School of Fine Arts (S. Paulo, BR) coupled with several computer graphics training programs and a certification in 3D modeling by Autodesk enables him to deliver the results of the VBIA Method of Borehole Analysis. Doug is Vektore's Webmaster.

His training by Timo Korth from ALT - Wellcad, along with Vektore’s proprietary augmentation of Wellcad’s capability, brings to Vektore clients the most comprehensive Borehole Televiewer Image Log Analysis possible.
