Head of R&D and Software Inno
Rodrigo Figueiredo is an experienced R&D Manager and Computer Scientist with a passion for turning complex challenges into innovative software solutions. He holds a Bachelor of Computer Science from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) and a post-graduate diploma in Business Management and Entrepreneurship from Algonquin College in Canada. Rodrigo began his journey with Vektore as a self-employed software developer, leading early development of core tools such as vSET® and vSBI®, and later expanding his role to architect flow-based systems and 3D modeling software for the mining and geoscience industries.
With a deep background in computer vision, AR, and applied research, Rodrigo has been instrumental in advancing Vektore’s technological edge. His early work as a Research Assistant in the Virtual Reality and Multimedia Research Group (GRVM) at UFPE laid the foundation for his interest in solving real-world problems through advanced computing techniques. Building on that experience, he led the development and successful launch of the vSTAR® platform, integrating augmented reality and mobile data collection with geological workflows. He also co-authored a patent for the key innovations behind vSTAR®, contributed to the Ore.node® Coreshack module, and has continuously pushed the boundaries of applied R&D by exploring new algorithms and interfaces to enhance structural geology and mining software.
Currently based in Ottawa, Rodrigo works full-time as Vektore’s Head of R&D and Software Innovation, leading cross-functional teams, managing strategic development cycles, and supporting business development through technical insights and product leadership. He collaborates closely with clients and stakeholders to deliver scalable, field-ready solutions—bridging technology and geology through thoughtful design, hands-on experimentation, and a strong foundation in both research and entrepreneurship.
